CATNIPS GAME

The Path to Meow World

Our journey for the Catnips Game begins with...
  • Mice & Cats — The Obsession with $CATNIPS A battle between Mice and Cats for the farm’s valuable $CATNIPS. Introduces new game mechanics, including Feather Fishing Rods.
  • The Meat Land — Livestock farm Livestock farming produce meats for earning taxes

MICE

Mice grow catnips and take utmost care to earn the freshest $CATNIPS.

Minting: Mice are the most common character. They have a 90% chance of being minted. Staking: Mice earn 12,000 $CATNIPS/day from cultivating the catnips.

Claiming: The mice have an attractive deal with the cats to keep away from mice farming the catnips. In exchange, the cats collect 20% of the mice’s claimed $CATNIPS.

Unstaking: Leaving the farm is dangerous. Mice can leave the farm if they have accumulated 2 days of $CATNIPS earnings necessary, to keep them hearty, plus an exchange of X $Meat per Y $CATNIPS. Note: there is a 50% chance of all accumulated $CATNIPS being stolen by cats.

CATS

Cats collect $CATNIPS from mice and steal mints from other players. Cats receive an Alpha value ranking from 5–8 upon mint — the higher the alpha value, the higher the portion of $CATNIPS that the Cat earns from taxes and the higher chance of stealing newly mints.

For example Cat A has an Alpha of 8 and Cat B has an Alpha of 6, and they are staked.

  • — If 70,000 $CATNIPS total have been accumulated as taxes, Cat A will be able to claim 40,000 $CATNIPS and Cat B will be able to claim 30,000 $CATNIPS
  • — If a newly minted Mouse or Cat is stolen, Cat A has a 57% chance of receiving it and Cat B has a 43% chance of receiving it

Minting: Cats are rare. They have a 10% chance of being minted.

Staking: Cats earn 20% of $CATNIPS produced by staked Mice. They have a chance to poach newly minted Mice or Cats.

Claiming & Unstaking: Collect 100% of earned $CATNIPS.

$CATNIPS Token

The $CATNIPS token is the primary in-game currency. $CATNIPS is an ERC-20 token. $CATNIPS allows you to mint Mice, Cats, and other valuable game assets. Earn $CATNIPS by staking your Mice and Cats. The maximum supply is 6,000,000,000 $CATNIPS.

Feather Fishing Rods

Store your $CATNIPS in ERC-1155 feather fishing rods. The price is 25,000 $CATNIPS. Feather fishing rods can be offered as insurance to prevent cats from stealing your mints. Cats will accept the bribe 50% of the time.

Without feather fishing rod: There is a 10% chance of cats stealing a non-genesis mint.

With feather fishing rod: There is a 5% chance of cats stealing a non-genesis mint and a 5% chance of cats stealing a feather fishing rod.

Meat Land

Stake your Cats in ERC-1155 Meat Land. The landlord is able to collect a certain amount of taxes that the landlord can provide percent of tax by themselves.

Staking: Landlords earn a certain amount of tax of $MEAT

produced by staked Cats.

Claiming: Collect 100% of earned $MEAT.

Minting

Metadata and pixel art are fully stored on-chain. No IPFS or APIs. There is a 90% chance of minting a Mouse and a rare 10% chance of minting a Cat. There is a 10% chance of non-Genesis mints being stolen by cats if you do not hold a feather fishing rod. Feather fishing rods can be offered as a bribe 50% of the time. Genesis mints cannot be stolen by Cats. BNB is only used for Genesis mints. The following Generations 1–5 are minted using $CATNIPS, the in-game currency. The $CATNIPS bonding curve is designed with 5 price steps.

  • Genesis (#1–15,000): Whitelist Mint and Public Mint.
  • Epoch 1 (#15,000–24,000): 24,000 $CATNIPS.
  • Epoch 2 (#24,001–33,000): 36,000 $CATNIPS.
  • Epoch 3 (#33,001–42,000): 48,000 $CATNIPS.
  • Epoch 4 (#42,001–51,000): 60,000 $CATNIPS.
  • Epoch 5 (#51,001–60,000): 72,000 $CATNIPS.

Why this tech is novel

Protocol-level risk is ripe for exploration in NFTs. Many projects are implementing stake-to-earn, but haven’t cracked the code on users making choices in the face of risk.

In the case of Catnips Game’s Cat-rule-Mouse world, your NFT can steal ERC-20 and ERC-721 tokens for you. This is entirely new.

Everything in Catnips Game happens on-chain: the decisioning, the results, the generation of the NFTs themselves. It’s split between 4 different smart contracts so that anyone can read through and get a sense of how it all talks to each other.

There are a number of techniques in these contracts that make this all possible while maintaining accuracy, keeping gas costs down, and not exceeding the EVM contract size limit.

100% On-chain:

Not the first, and certainly not the last. But as long as BSC is running, your Mice and Cats will survive. Always available and always yours. Your traits and all the pixel art reside in the contracts themselves, nowhere else.

In conclusion...

With Catnips Game, everyone can play with their own level of risk… Pay the tax? Stay liquid on the market? Take a chance to keep all your $CATNIPS, but have a chance to lose it all? The choices and this game have to be engaging.

Cats preying on Mice feels almost like a parallel to the NFT community itself: A select few with alpha among all of us, and many others following the clowder.
